About Bismil Tailoring

Bismil Trading is a division of Claire Investments Ltd, a Papua New Guinean-registered company (60% owned by a PNG company Jasmore Holdings Ltd and 40% by management). Bismil Trading specializes in the manufacture and sale of work wear, safety wear, safety equipment and promotional items. The company has another trading division [Bismil Tailoring] that specializes in tailoring (corporate, catering, security and school uniforms), embroidery, screen and sublimation printing; and yet another division that specializes in graphic design and design of corporate and promotional wear. Bismil began uniform and clothing manufacture in Port Moresby in 1994. Since then, it has grown to a sizeable business and has a reputation for high quality, competitive pricing and excellent service.

Bismil’s factory at Six-Mile in the National Capital District manufactures uniforms and work wear for small-and medium-sized customers. Bismil also has agreements with factories in China and Sri Lanka for manufacture of the Bismil brand of work wear, called Workman, and a Logistics Office in Singapore. Bismil manufactures helmets and safety glasses to Australia and New Zealand standard under the Workman brand.

Bismil is managed by Mr. Ikram Sahabdeen, who has worked with Bismil for over 23 years and has extensive experience in clothing manufacture. Due to its rapid growth and expansion, in the last few years Bismil has recruited a number of skilled experts (in management and sales, design, tailoring, embroidery digitization and machinery mechanics) to work with and train over 80 Papua New Guinean staff – seamstresses, screen printers, embroidery specialists, administration, sales and delivery staff. The total staff strength when Jasmore bought the business in 2006 was 30. It is now 80, and still growing.

Bismil has modern industrial sewing machinery, which is regularly serviced and well maintained, and is subject to regular scheduled replacement.

Bismil has an in-house embroidery facility, with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. It is the biggest and most modern facility in the country, using the latest equipment from Japan (Tajima), with multiple embroidery heads working simultaneously.

Bismil also has a Graphic Design and Printing Division, for printing garments and other promotional items. In addition to silk screen printing, Bismil has introduced the first in-house sublimation direct to film (DTF) printing machine in the country, expediting manufacture and delivery.

Bismil keeps a high level of stock of corporate clothing, caps, work wear, security uniforms and safety items. This gives the company the ability to supply if not immediately, in a very short period of time. Bismil is the main dealer in Papua New Guinea for SAFETY JOGGER safety boots – one of the best safety boots internationally – our supplier holds stock of more than a million pairs.
